    We Can’t Do It Alone
    Building Influence with Simple Strategies

Improvement and change happens because someone drives the change, whether they’re at the top, middle or bottom of the organization they're working with. Everyone who needs to work with others or aspires to drive change needs skills in getting things done with and through other people, whether they are team members, peers, or their own leadership.

We Can't Do It Alone: Building Influence with Simple Strategies covers practical ideas to make it easier to get things done with others one-on-one.  Participants will walk away from the session with an assortment of easy to use ideas that they can immediately apply at work, in the community and at home.

Here are some of the points we’ll cover in the session:

    • Laying the groundwork
    • Style points - being someone others want to help
    • Communicating effectively – your speech and writing patterns matter
    • Establishing credibility and competence – you’re smart, but can you deliver?
    • Developing relationships
    • Managing first impressions – when and how
    • Listening – it’s easy to be fascinating
    • Favors and flattery – some surprising twists that work
    • Location, location, location – dealing with distance, even if you’re co-located
    • Driving change and achieving follow-through
    • Building Momentum - how to get people moving in the right direction
    • Presenting choices – the best ways to get a decision
    • Simplicity – eliminate the tedium
    • Visualization – sports psychology in business
    • Follow-through – deadlines, expectations and accountability
    • Being a leader
    • Walking the talk – consistency and honor
    • Embracing ambiguity – being good at being uncomfortable
    • Reviewing work – being a different kind of critic
    • Stewardship – accountability for your own work isn’t enough
    • Courage – being bold is not being fearless
