Hear from the experts: What to do in the midst of change

Organizational change happens with new leadership, new teams, and sometimes because of outside factors.  What is the best way to handle it?  How do you know when your team is doing well and when it is time to call in for reinforcements?  The panel made up of Paul Hamalian, Libby Pollock, and Wilfredo Ramos will discuss their experiences with large scale change, the best examples and the worst examples of change management in action, and how to leverage resources to make sure transitions are smooth from leadership to individual contributors.

Paul Hamalian is currently based in Atlanta as the Vice President of Strategy and Operational Effectiveness at Habitat for Humanity International.

Paul and his wife Nancy started with Habitat in 1994 as international volunteers in Nicaragua.  Over the last 23 years he has served in a variety of roles within Habitat including construction manager, international program advisor, National Director, Director of Administration and Finance for Latin America and Caribbean, Director of Global Finance and Sr. Director for CEO Support. In 2012 Paul led a team that developed the new global strategic plan for Habitat’s work in more than 75 countries and 1400 communities in the USA. He is now leading a team that is facilitates the successful realization of the strategy through change execution, monitoring and evaluations.

He is a native of Northern California, but has lived in France, Spain, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Costa Rica.  He has earned a BS in Construction Management from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, a Master of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Seminary and a MBA from the University of Michigan.

Paul and his wife now live in Decatur, Georgia.  He has three grown children working in cross-cultural ministry.

Libby Pollock is the Vice President of Global Change Management at Assurant, a Fortune 300 company with over 15,000 employees worldwide and a leading provider of protection products, insurance services, and customer support for major purchases such as homes, cars, appliances, and mobile phones. Libby and her team are responsible for leading the people side of change for transformational initiatives across all of Assurant.

Libby has almost 20 years of experience developing change strategies and practical solutions to drive stakeholder adoption and business results for large-scale business transformations. She has designed and executed change initiatives including system and process implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational restructuring. She has a proven track record of developing people, ensuring alignment, and building strong relationships at all levels. She is a leader who believes in bringing your “whole self” to work.

Prior to joining Assurant, Libby worked with many Fortune 500 companies in a consultative capacity, including The Coca-Cola Company, UPS, Caterpillar, Marriott, and Delta Air Lines. She was a Principal Consultant with The North Highland Company where she worked for almost ten years, and served as North Highland’s Atlanta Office Change Management Leader for three years. Before that, she spent six years in management consulting with Accenture.

Wilfredo ‘Wil’ Ramos is the Change, Organizational Design, and Business Transformation Lead Philips Healthcare-North America

Working closely with the global and local program teams, Wil leads business implementations by strategically planning and executing on all people and organization related deliverables, assuring capabilities deployed are properly adopted and embraced by the receiving organization and leading to the realization of program(s) benefits.

Wil has over 11 years of strong and successful experience in leading change management in complex transformational programs across multi-functional and multi-level teams in Cox Automotive, Coca Cola Company, Emory Healthcare and Koch Industries. He led the development of cohesive team member engagement, culture and leadership development strategies, resulting in the successful deployment of organizational restructures with team member impacts as well as the deployment of technology, process solutions and their associated metric of measurement.

Wil holds an undergraduate degree in History form Northeastern University and a Masters in Science in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University.  He also served 7 years as a U.S Army Infantry officer.  He is married to Trunshedda Ramos and they live in the Atlanta area with their four children.
